"Monsters"

Quietly I tread around

Issues on which I can’t expound

A thin smile covers my face

Till the monster is put in its place

Begging, cajoling does no good

They give no heed like the worthy should

Orders fall on deafened ears

And pleading with honest, tragic tears

Is no use against a primal creature

Who’s worse than the vilest lecher

Grab the whip, don the spurs

Beat out the stubborn burrs

Till the beast lies calm without guile

And you never notice under my smile

The issues in question

Know well their station.

But do feelings like love die

In such peaceful strangulation?

Hey, this is good! It'd be great to hear spoken aloud, too - starting out softly, building to a climax.

If you ever do a reading ... this one.

Thanks. I churned it out because I needed to. It's always nice to hear that some moments - no matter how dark, desperate, or simply emotional - can translate into something constructive and applaudible.

I probably will use this in a reading if I can ever find somewhere to read my stuff. All the good places have slowly disappeared...

Any room or open place with people willing to listen always makes an excellent place. Actually it might be a really good excuse to have a get-together/party with some friends. If you do something like that at random times of the year it will make a good reason to see friends at times you don't usually get to see them.

Or if you wanted to take it in a bit of a less socially normal direction... you could do something like stand in the middle of the boston common on a nice day and just start reading out loud. ;-)

You get me to Boston Commons, I'll find the middle and start reading as loud as you want me to ;)

Deal just pick a day... I'll pick you up and treat you to lunch afterwards.
